BooksKC provides employment and job training to individuals with disabilities while repurposing books

A Little About Us...

BooksKC is a unique book recycler and reseller. When you donate books to the project, 100% of the revenue generated from repurposing the books will go toward providing jobs and job training for individuals with disabilities right here in the Kansas City Metropolitan Area.

When BooksKC, an award winning Missouri Recycling Association 501 (c) (3) nonprofit, began in 2012 it employed four individuals with disabilities. As of March 2015, that number has grown to 15. The project is also utilized for job training and skill assessment.

The more books the project receives through your generous donations, the more jobs and services we can provide to individuals with disabilities right here in the Kansas City Metropolitan area.

The Missouri Recycling Association MORA designated BooksKC as the “Outstanding Sheltered Workshop Recycling" for 2014. Since BooksKC's first year in 2012, over 3,000 tons of books have been repurposed (reused or recycled) by the Rehabilitation Institute of Kansas City’s BooksKC Project. That’s over 6,000,000 pounds!

The Missouri Recycling Association supports waste reduction and recycling efforts in Missouri by providing information, educational opportunities and technical support in partnership with the state, national and regional organizations.
